Am I loveable?

No matter what you are doing right now at this moment you need to hear this. I love you. This trio breathes life into us. It brings about hope in us. It infuses joy into our life. I love you. These three little words are repeated again an again in the Bible. They show God’s endless love for us.

Isaiah 43:4

Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.

We are precious to God and we are loved by him. Jesus teaches about love and even shows how to love. Jesus loves us so much he sacrifices himself for us.

Why is love so important that God takes thousands of years and the entire Bible to teach about love? Love is a human need, we need to love and be loved. God wants us to flourish and that can only happen when we fully believe in those three words…… I love you.

Faults and failure s fill our mind, we think we are not worthy of love. We have slipped up and come up short more times than we would like. How could we be loveable? If other humans can’t love me why would God? Am I loveable?

Why is it we spend countless hours wondering if we are loveable? Why can’t we just be who we are and be loved? Why must we conform to others ideas? Does this make us more loveable in their eyes, in God’s eyes? Why are we spending countless hours trying to win the affections of others? If they respond positively why do I blow it off on the surface but deep down I burst at the seams?

God’s love is abundant and a gift and we can experience it every day. But why is it not enough? Jesus empowers us to accept love. Jesus teaches to recognize God’s love and to receive it. God’s unfailing love fills us and this earth, why do we question it?

I often feel unlovable and doubt how anyone could like let alone love me. I have this horrible disease. My insides are at war with my body. I make weird noises, I have undependable energy levels, and I can not always be counted upon to do what I say I can. Who would want to be my friend or love me when I cry because I hurt. I need to be stronger before I can be loved. Then I came across this scripture.

Psalm 33:5

He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.

The earth is full is his unfailing love, wow that is hard-hitting. His love is everywhere and it is not in short supply. His love never ends. I know he loves me but can I not accept this?

God, open me to your boundless love. Show me your divine love and rain your affection on me.

Jeremiah 31:3

Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself.

You are loveable!
