I sell Young Living Essential Oils. It is not something I go around advertising or try to shove into people’s faces. Either you are open to essential oils or you are not. I can give you samples but I can’t force you to try them. That is my feelings on the matter. I will talk about essential oils from time to time on my blog because I do believe in them and I have had luck with most of the ones I have tried. I am currently waiting for this supplement from Young Living to arrive. you can check out my website here!

This supplement has OMEGA 3 fatty acids: Our bodies cannot make Omega 3s, so we need to get them from food sources. There are 3 types (ALA, EPA, & DHA). ALA is found in nuts, seeds, and vegetable oil and EPA & DHA are found primarily in fish sources such as wild salmon, sardines, herring, anchovies, mackerel, bluefish, or tuna 2-3 times a week. If you are like me, you aren’t eating nearly enough fish to get enough of this important fatty acid, which is why it’s important to supplement. While you can get Omega 3s from vegetarian sources such as flaxseed or hemp hearts, our bodies have to work more to change the chemical chain to be useful, while that of fish is the same as that found in our eyes, heart, and brain.

Why do we even care about getting Omega 3s? Omega 3s can help lower high blood pressure, help keep plaque from forming in arteries and reduce triglyceride levels. WebMD says that there is evidence that Omega 3s can help depression, arthritis, asthma, ADHD, and possibly Alzheimer’s and dementia. They provide the starting point for making hormones that regulate blood clotting, contraction and relaxation of artery walls, and inflammation. They also bind to receptors in cells that regulate genetic function.

Likely due to these a large portion of the population is deficient in Vitamin D, especially this time of year. Vitamin D3: Vitamin D has multiple roles in the body including maintaining the health of bones and teeth, supporting the health of the immune system, brain, and nervous system, regulating insulin levels and aid diabetes management, supporting lung function and cardiovascular health, and influencing the expression of genes involved in cancer development. With its large role in the body, you can see why it is important to supplement if necessary to get to optimal levels within the body. When supplementing, it is important that you are using D3, not D2. The main reason is that when supplementing, vitamin D2 and D3 will raise the vitamin D levels in your body, but after time vitamin D2 starts to plateau while D3 continues to rise more consistently over time.

CoQ10 (Kaneka Q10) – As you know, not all supplements on the market are created the same and of course Young Living goes above the rest to provide the best of the best to you. The Kaneka Q10 in Omegagize is bio-identical to the CoQ10 produced within your body. CoQ10 is a coenzyme that helps with cell growth and maintenance, it also is an antioxidant, and it helps the mitochondria in the cell burn fuel more efficiently. This enzyme also supports cognitive function and cardiovascular function. A lot of times, especially as we age, our ability to produce the CoQ10 we need diminishes due to factors like oxidative stress or age-related changes to genes in the body, thus increasing the need for supplementation.

How else is Young Living different? Fish oil very unstable and can oxidate and go rancid. This process starts to happen as soon as the bottle is opened and the pills are exposed to oxygen. Young Living combats this in a few ways. They use a dark bottle to help minimize light exposure, they added antioxidants such as clove EO and vitamin E to the blend, and they use a special technology in their liquid ocean capsule, which helps keep the contents fresh.

Additionally, the other German Chamomile works synergistically with the Omega 3s to help support a healthy inflammatory response and the spearmint is added for taste. Warnings: Fish oils can lower blood pressure so it is important to beware of use with blood pressure meds and be sure to check blood pressure on a regular basis. You also want to use caution when taking Omegagize with Ginkgo biloba, any medications (prescribed or OTC) used to thin blood (NSAIDS, ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin etc), alcohol, and other products that thin the blood including products with wolfberries. Since fish oil can thin the blood, there is an increased risk of bleeding when combining multiple blood thinners.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist on signs and symptoms of bleeding and be sure to check your I&R to measure how thin blood is vs someone not taking blood thinners. Additionally, Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin, so it is possible to have too much. Be sure to use caution when combining multiple products with vitamin D3 including Supercal Plus and Master Formula. Your healthcare provider can do a simple blood test to let you know your vitamin D levels.
