Element Neverland Girls
A little year ago, I felt called by God to led a continuous woman’s small group for my church. I had led a small group here and here and had a core group of 4 women that would always join me for a gathering. But committing a whole year, twice a month was a game changer.
Making that commitment was one of the best things I ever did. It was a choice that was needed for my soul, God was using me in a new way to serve others and I had never experienced a closeness to a group of women before. I was reaching out and serving and helping others, this experience humbled me.
Why should helping others matter?
Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.
This is an important matter and a commandment we’re given. We need to give this serious thought. Loving our neighbor and looking into the interest of others is called out in the Bible. It’s something we do as Christians. Why should we care? Because God cares and people matter and so do you. We need to pour into others even when we feel empty.
Serving others isn’t easy and I should know. There are times when my UC flares of I am lacking spoons (energy) to make it to meeting or through meetings. There are days when I don’t even want to get out of bed. But the thought of being with those 8 women make me want to push through and go spend and hour or two with them every other week.
I am serving them but they are also giving me so much back. The difference is in the little things.
How to support others when you feel weak…
We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves. 2 We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. 3 For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. 4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.5 May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. 6 Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
If you give, you will get back
You reap what you sow. It’s this law of the universe and God shows us this again and again. I know that step out of the comfort zone is scary. When God calls to step up you my wonder if it will make a difference or will it make a big enough difference to matter. Your sacrifice matters, trust me. There is a reason behind everything God asks us to do. We may not understand it or see it right away, but there is always a reason.
I don’t serve to get something back. I serve god gave first to me. I serve because we should love our neighbors as we love ourselves. This is hard for me to fully understand and do, because honestly I don’t really know most of my neighbors. I try to give to others to the extent I would give to myself. Wait, say what?! That is a hard thing to do, some days I really don’t love myself that much. To go the extra mile for someone else in the same way that I would do for myself. We need to serve out of love, grace, and the overflow of what others have poured into us.
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
Love and love will be given to you. Be respectful of others and respect will be given. Show grace to others and it will be shown to you. When you choose not share with others these things it will be withheld from us. Step out in faith and you will be rewarded by God.
Have a blessed day, love the ones you are with, and remember we are not guaranteed tomorrow but we are guaranteed coffee today!
